Allbirds and Adidias are joining forces

Voted the world’s most comfortable sneakers by the Time, Allbirds shoes are made from wool (which requires 60% less energy to process than synthetic material) or eucalyptus fibre, which is watered without artificial watering on South African farms (which requires 95% less water than cotton). The sole is made from sugar cane from Brazil and the laces come from recycled water bottles while big brands prefer to use petroleum derivative.

Allbirds has gained a lot of popularity those last years as many celebrities from Leonardo DiCaprio to Barack Obama were seen wearing this brand.

Recently, Adidias and Allbirds have announced that they were working together to create the lowest ever carbon footprint recorded for a sport performance shoe. The project will see the two brands sharing their sustainability supply chains, manufacturing and design innovations as well as explore new renewable material resources.

Currently, the average running performance shoe has a carbon footprint of around 13.6 kilograms. Both companies will then join forces to reduce this impact on our planet.

Eco-friendly sneakers with good design is the challenge taken up by Tim Brown (former international football player for the New-Zeland national team) and Joey Zwillinger, both 38 years old, co-founders and CEO of the Allbirds brand.
